Riley was born at 1:31 AM, April, 21, 2009. She weighed 8.0 lbs and 21.5 inches. Our dreams were now a reality.
It must have been fate that Riley's delivery nurse would be named Rose .
As we met her for her first family portrait, she was testing her lungs with some hefty crying. Nurse Rose told uas that this is exactly what she wanted to get those little lungs going.
Dark hair, brown eyes. As Riley looked up at her father, it was like looking into a mirror.
| Meeting Great Grandad Great Granddad Jim Fleming had his chance to hold Riley. He figured that he'd simplify things for Riley. "Great Granddad" was just too complicated. So Jim let it be known..."Just call me GREAT!"  And then it was home on Wednesday, and the happy family could kick back in their own family room.  Yeah, this coming home and sleeping on Dad on the couch is really cool!  Alice and the White Rabbit welcome her in her room at home.  Alice was a hand painted gift from Riley's Aunt Michele Downey Thomas. Michele and Riley have become friends. Michele shot a number of coming home shots on her super new professional camera, a gift from Sandy Thomas, husband Kevin's father. Pete was a little out of practice, but got the hang of it. After all, it's been over 31 years since Matt. But Pete did recognize the signs of the little grunts as Riley did her job. Luckily Aunt Michele volunteered to change her pants. Being a Grandparent is great fun. And then we turn her over to someone else for the dirty stuff.  Uncle Jeff just grinned ear to ear as he held his niece for the first time.  Grandma Jamie is making good friends with Riley as she looks up with big eyes. Jamie has an advantage as a Grandma, living just a couple of blocks from Kristy, Matt and Riley.  Riley's room is ready for her first visit about 35 miles north, in Pete and Diana's Rochester Hills home, . Tom Marx, of Seattle, one of Pete's old college friends from Notre Dame, sent a darling blanket commemorating Riley's Birthday. Tom specifically sent a note, "This is not for you, Pete." So we'll just hold onto Tom's gift to Riley until she comes for her first visit. Riley is turning into a bright-eyed little girl...Michele says she is a real talker.
